"What's New in Nemea: Recent and Planned Excavations" Since 1973, UC Berkeley Classics Professor Steven Miller has directed an excavation project in Nemea, Greece, where ancient Greek Olympic events took place. Miller was hired by the UC Berkeley classics department in 1973 to take on and coordinate projects in Nemea for graduate students in the department's doctorate program. For more than 25 years, Miller and a team of graduate students have traveled to Nemea and excavated the area to learn more about the culture and attitudes surrounding the ancient events. This event was co-sponsored by the Modern Greek Studies Foundation
